Mother's Day 2026 in the UK: Where to book and what to do
From spa days to sweet treats
With Mother’s Day on the horizon, it’s time to treat your mum, or the loved ones in your life, to something worth putting in the diary. From a vintage boat trip along the Thames to hands-on cooking classes in Marylebone, treehouse suites in the New Forest (hot tubs included) and a little Sloane Street shopping spree, we’ve rounded up UK stays that turn quality time into a proper plan.
If choosing just one feels impossible, a Little Emperors e-Gift Card keeps things thoughtful without second-guessing, letting them pick the date and the kind of hotel that suits them best.
Cliveden House Hotel, Hampshire
Cliveden makes a strong case for enjoying Mother’s Day on the water. Book a private boat trip and drift along a particularly pretty stretch of the Thames in one of the hotel's vintage launches, with cream tea served on board. Back on dry land, wander through the gardens and parkland across the 378-acre estate. Families with a competitive streak can raise the stakes with axe-throwing. Afterwards, retreat to the Grade I-listed stately home past the lobby’s resident suit of armour for a glass of Laurent-Perrier, Cliveden’s house pour, or a Cliveden ’66 at the Library Bar, whatever floats your boat.
Hotel Café Royal, London
London has no shortage of legendary hotels, but Hotel Café Royal has a particular pull, the kind that keeps members coming back when they want a proper sense of occasion. Open since 1865, it’s long been a backdrop for famous nights, with Oscar Wilde once holding court here and a bar now bearing his name. For Mother’s Day, start at Akasha, where facials, hammam rituals and the private Watsu pool set a seriously soothing tone, then keep things celebratory with afternoon tea in the Oscar Wilde Lounge.
Jumeirah Carlton Tower, London
For those with a sweet tooth, Jumeirah Carlton Tower is the one to book this Mother’s Day. The hotel has teamed up with jewellery designer Nada Ghazal on a limited-edition cake created by Executive Pastry Chef Martin Haidar, starring in the Mother’s Day afternoon tea on 15 March. Every mother will be treated to a personalised styling session at the Nada Ghazal boutique on Pont Street, while one lucky guest will receive a bespoke jewellery piece. The Knightsbridge setting keeps the treats coming, with Harrods, Harvey Nichols and the boutiques of Sloane Street close by for a post-tea shopping spree. Little Emperors guests staying overnight also receive a spa credit to use at The Peak Health Club & Spa.
The Newt in Somerset
If Mother’s Day calls for a staycation you can all get behind, The Newt is the sort of place that keeps everyone happy, and it’s just as good a gift for any weekend you want to make feel special. Walk the Deer Park with an estate farmer and see the herd up close or take a Bee Safari ending at the Beezantium. The Somerset Cyder Experience is a brilliant pre-dinner plan, and regulars will tell you the cold lake dips are the quickest way to reset. For anyone in charge of the grand gesture, a hot air balloon flight is certainly hard to beat. For Little Emperors members, a complimentary cream tea at Hadspen House is a pleasing mid-afternoon interlude between gardens and aperitifs.
The Langham, London
Some gifts end up in a drawer, others turn into stories you’ll tell again and again. Mother’s Day is a good excuse to plan the latter, and The Langham makes it easy. Book a masterclass at Sauce and spend a few hours side by side, from pasta making to bread baking and bouquet workshops, depending on what's on. Then keep the celebration going with a well-deserved cocktail at Artesian, a four-time winner of The World’s 50 Best Bars award.
The Lanesborough, London
If your idea of celebration involves polished silver, proper service and food worth dressing up for, The Lanesborough is your answer. Its Mother’s Day Sunday lunch is a grand three-course affair under glittering chandeliers in The Lanesborough Grill, served with a glass of Laurent-Perrier to get things started. Those leaning towards afternoon tea can dust off their Regency best for a Bridgerton-inspired take instead.
Continue the indulgence at The Lanesborough Club & Spa – book a treatment, then drift between the thermal suites. Come evening, it’s The Library Bar for a celebratory martini, backed by a spirits list that reaches back to the 18th century. And if you’re making a night of it, it’s one of the few London stays where 24-hour butler service comes as standard in every room and suite.
Chewton Glen, Hampshire
There are plenty of reasons to stay at Chewton Glen, and Mother’s Day feels as good a time as any to treat your mum, sister, friend or favourite person to a proper countryside reset. Our members particularly rate the Treehouse Suites, each with a hot tub on the deck, a foliage-facing bath and a fire, linked by canopy walkways through the canopy. Make the spa your starting point, then book Waves & Whispers for guided sound healing on the day itself after dinner.
The Dorchester, London
Few places suit a Mother’s Day celebration quite like The Dorchester, where the day can unfold at its own pace. Afternoon tea in The Promenade is the main event, served in one of Mayfair’s most beautiful rooms, with pastry work that honours tradition while still feeling fresh. Make a full day of it with a Hyde Park stroll and Bond Street browsing nearby, then book dinner to match the mood, from The Grill to China Tang, or go all in at three-Michelin-starred Alain Ducasse.
