Inside One&Only Aesthesis, an Athens Riviera revival
Little Emperors’ Head of Brand Caterina checks into this Greek gem
Set on a beautifully landscaped peninsula surrounded by the sea, One&Only Aesthesis brings a fresh perspective to a storied stretch of coastline. Once a well-known beach club in the 1950s, it’s now a stunning waterfront resort with a strong sense of style, a standout spa and plenty going on for both adults and children. It feels tucked away in its own world, yet you’re only about 30 minutes from the airport or the cultural sights of Athens. Here's what to expect from a stay at the resort.
Setting and design
There’s a real sense of space here, which I appreciated straight away. The resort sits within a gated enclave overlooking Asteras Beach, with low-rise buildings and gardens that soften everything around you. The main building has a cool, Modernist design, while the bungalows and villas are dotted across the grounds, some facing the sea, others hidden among Mediterranean plants. I liked the design details, especially the floor-to-ceiling windows and the use of pale timber and stone, which give everything a light, easy feel. Once you’re inside the grounds, the outside world quickly fades into the background.
Accommodation
I stayed in one of the Aesthesis Bungalows, and it really set the tone for the whole trip. I liked how private it felt, with plenty of space inside and out. The bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom generous with a deep tub, and the outdoor area quickly became my go-to spot. There’s a private pool, shaded seating and even a fireplace, which I enjoyed more than expected in the evenings. Walking through the gardens to reach the main areas became part of the daily rhythm, though I did make good use of the buggy service when I felt like taking it easy.
Around the resort
Breakfast at ORA Restaurant was a great way to start each day. There’s a large buffet alongside an à la carte menu that brings in subtle Greek touches alongside familiar options. I kept things simple with eggs Royale and avocado on toast across a couple of mornings, both done very well. The setting makes it even better, overlooking the main pool and out towards the sea. I found myself lingering over coffee most days, which says a lot.
The pool and beach areas are exactly what you want from this part of the Riviera. I loved the relaxed pace, the private cabanas and the easy shift between pool and sea. It’s all very well set up without feeling overdesigned. Evenings at Manko brought a different energy, with a Peruvian menu and a more lively, party atmosphere that felt like a natural progression after long, sun-soaked days.
Facilities and activities
There’s no shortage of things to do. A sleek fitness centre, tennis and padel courts, yoga sessions and a Guerlain spa that’s well worth booking. Service across the resort is spot on too, attentive and efficient, with hosts available via WhatsApp which makes everything feel very easy. If you do want to head out, Acropolis of Athens is an easy 30-minute drive. I made time for it and really appreciated the contrast between the calm of the resort and the energy of the city. And while I didn’t get a chance to try it myself, I spoke to other guests who were very enthusiastic about the resort’s Pardo yachts, which are available for everything from sunset cruises to longer outings around the Saronic Gulf, as well as fishing trips.
For families, this place really stands out. The KidsOnly club is genuinely impressive. I thought it was one of the best I’ve seen, with a huge amount of space, shaded areas and thoughtfully designed zones. There are treehouses, wooden playgrounds, little cabins and dedicated areas for everything from nature activities to music and media. There was so much for children to do, from creative workshops to beachside activities and even mini Olympic-style games – I’ll definitely be bringing my kids next time.
