Hotel Alfonso XIII, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Seville

Hotel Alfonso XIII in Seville is fit for a king – literally. It was commissioned by the namesake monarch to host visiting dignitaries in 1929 and his ambitious plans to create the best hotel in Europe were met with this palm-lined Moorish palace. The sovereigns have never stopped staying: over the years it has hosted Prince Rainier and Grace of Monaco, and Charles and Diana, along with royalty of the Hollywood variety (Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren and Brad Pitt).
