Day 1: Edinburgh

As the train heads west through Fort William, look out for Ben Nevis. After lunch on board, disembark in Glenfinnan where a local guide shares stories of Scottish heroes. Enjoy drinks and light bites in the cosy Old Station bar at Spean Bridge. If you're feeling energetic, join a guided walk to Steall Waterfall. Back in Fort William, enjoy dinner and a nightcap as the train travels to Bridge of Orchy.

Day 2: Glenfinnan

Today, hop over to the Isle of Bute for an afternoon of island adventure. Explore Mount Stuart, a grand Gothic mansion packed with stories and portraits, then ferry back to Wemyss Bay. Back on board, change into something sharp — a formal dinner awaits as the train rolls on to Kilmarnock.

Day 3: Mount Stuart

After an early departure from Gourock, enjoy a relaxed breakfast as you head east to Edinburgh, where this leg of the journey ends. Spend the morning discovering the city with a guided tour and light lunch before reboarding in the afternoon. The train crosses the Forth Railway Bridge and continues north through Fife, with afternoon tea served en-route. Arrive in Keith by evening, just in time for an informal dinner and drinks.

Day 4: Keith

As the train departs Keith, enjoy breakfast as you head west toward Inverness. Lunch is served as the journey continues along one of the UK’s most scenic railways to Kyle of Lochalsh. Disembark in Plockton for a boat trip to see wild seals or sample a dram at the local hotel. Back on board, change for a formal dinner, then enjoy a nightcap in the Observation Car with stunning views over Loch Alsh toward the Isle of Skye.

Day 5: Kyle of Lochalsh

Feeling energetic? Join your host for a brisk morning walk over the bridge to the Isle of Skye. After breakfast, the train heads east, skirting the Beauly Firth and crossing the Caledonian Canal before arriving in Inverness. Continue south to Carrbridge to explore Ballindalloch Castle and gardens. Choose between a private castle tour or a peek inside Scotland’s only single-estate distillery. Tonight, stay aboard in Boat of Garten, with live music in the Observation Car.

Day 6: Boat of Garten

This morning, head to Rothiemurchus Estate in the heart of the Cairngorms for a choice of outdoor adventures — from fishing and clay pigeon shooting to a scenic guided walk. Rejoin the train at Kingussie for lunch, then continue south through Blair Atholl and Pitlochry to Dunkeld. Disembark for a visit to Glamis Castle, childhood home of HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother. Back on board, dress for a formal dinner and enjoy live entertainment into the evening.

Day 7: Rothiemurchus
