Hotel Fasano Rio de Janeiro
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
South America’s coolest hotel chain, Fasano began life as a São Paulo restaurant, opened by a Milanese immigrant in 1902, and now has outposts all over Brazil (as well as one in Uruguay’s beautiful-people beach resort of Punta del Este, obviously). The Rio edition – which was designed by Philippe Starck – is in Ipanema Beach, with a restaurant dedicated to the art of the Italian sandwich and, the star of the show, a rooftop pool with views of Sugarloaf Mountain and that famous bay.
